Imagine that you are a new Clemson Tiger and it is your first big home football game in Death Valley. The stadium is packed with about 81,000 people screaming and chanting “C-L-E-M-S-O-N!” As the marching band begins to enter the stadium and play those catchy Tiger tunes, all of a sudden you feel strong “earthquake-like” vibration coming from fans releasing their inner Tiger Energy.
Seems overwhelming yet?!
So for a second you begin to think, “Should I join in and partake in this Tiger Spirit (allowing my “Blood to Runneth Orange”), or should I immediately run away and never come near this place they call Death Valley again?”
“You’ll miss the best things if you keep your eyes shut.” -Dr. Seuss
Well Dr. Seuss would suggest that, “If you never did, you should. These things are fun and fun is good.” If you attempt to experience new things with your eyes closed (passively “going through the motions”), you are only receiving a part (if that) of the experience.
Think for a second…
If you choose to actively engage and receive the full experience, your reward could be incredibly positive and life changing! You could potentially meet great people, receive awesome opportunities, and accomplish things that you would not believe! To be realistic, even if things turn out to be different than what you thought it would be, it’s okay! The world will not end and there is always another day, another opportunity, another test, another paper, etc. Give yourself credit for trying!
There is always a lesson to be learned from any given situation.
In closing, the point is (regardless of any situation): if you choose to open your eyes when it may be easier to close them, you may be exposed to things that could positively impact your way of thinking, who you are, what you want out of life, and much much more!
Therefore as you begin to create new and exciting memories, or even if something unexpected happens and you are unsure of what to do, please remember that we are here to support YOU!
